Shrubland Hall,

Just before Christmas activities I headed my first little project. We were approached by another community group, Young People First Charity, asking us to produce a piece of work centred around the old Shrubland Hall, which, in the early 1900's was situated where the Bury Road/Westbury Rd estate now is. With limited time this is what we came up with. 

We found virtually the only decent remaining picture of the old Shrubland Hall

We cut it into 4, and 4 members of our class each took a quarter and reproduced it each in the size of A3, in their own style. 

The Result

Interesting facts: many of the bricks used to build the estate were sourced from this old hall.

                                  

                                     : the only remaining part of the Hall or gardens is one huge cedar tree. Were not                         sure which one, but we think its set back off of Kingsway somewhere....

Christmas Tree Festival

 

We enjoyed painting miniature canvases , easels, baubles, and angels for our Christmas Tree as part of the Christmas Tree Festival, held in All Saints Parish Church, Leamington Spa.

We donated the decorated tree at the end of the festival to the charity Helping Hands, who gave it to someone in need this Christmas.

In tribute to Helena Godwin, our art tutor who sadly lost her life to cancer this year, please join us for coffee and cake to help raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.

We raised a wonderful £160 to support those affected by cancer.

Summer Exhibition 2023

Painting Shields for the Folk Festival in Warwick

During the Warwick Folk Festival, from Friday to Sunday, July 27th to 30th, 2023, keep an eye out for the vibrant shields our painting class has created to liven up the festival.

The excitement of the day ahead anticipates seeing your favorite artists perform, participating in workshops, and making new friends at the ceilidh. It promises to be an incredible day.

All of this and more await you in the heart of England, at the Warwick Folk Festival on a new green field site, just a 15-minute walk from the center of Warwick.
